IELTS writing part 2
IELTS Writing assesses your ability to write two different pieces of writing in relatively short period of time. Unlike the listening and the reading modules, there are no right or wrong answers to the questions in the IELTS Writing test. All you have to do is to express your opinion on the given topic in about 250 words. So, when a topic is given, it is important that you make your position on the topic clear and develop arguments to either agree (support) or disagree with the topic. Your final piece of writing must be coherent and understandable.
To make you work easier, it is better to divide your essay into five paragraphs (of at least 50 words each). The first one, as you know, must be an introduction. You can simply begin it with a background statement on the given topic. Then give more details about the back ground statement (topic). Further, express your opinions on the topic that you are going to discuss or analyze in the body of the essay. Finally, present an outline of the order in which you are going to discuss your opinions on the given topic.
In the body of your essay, you can write three supporting paragraphs (arguments) to support your opinions/arguments on the given topic. To make it still easier, express each opinion/argument in a separate paragraph. Give most relevant examples to support your opinion/argument. Likewise, write three supporting paragraphs. You can also write more if you are capable of it and left with sufficient time. Make sure that each paragraph is at least 50-word length so that you reach the 250-word target.
The concluding paragraph can be three to four sentences. You can begin by summarizing your opinions/arguments. Then write a statement that reflects your points of views. You can even add more to elucidate this part. Finally, conclude your essay with your piece of inference or advice or recommendation.
